What are orphaned blocks?

An orphaned block occurs when two staking nodes mint a new block almost exactly at the same time. If the information from your block is not transmitted to the network fast enough, the other staking node may receive the block reward.

Orphaned blocks are valid and verified blocks, however they are rejected by the blockchain. Therefore, you will receive nothing as a reward. The resulting block is called an orphan.
